What: HP ROCKS! Music and Bouldering Festival presented by First Avenue Rocks and The North Face and Alabama Outdoors

Cost: $50 competitor fee $50 ($40 preregister*), $30 non competitor ($25 preregister*)

WHY? Raise money for Alabama Bouldering Fund, SCC, and the Steele Fire Department.

Bouldering Competition on Saturday with registration starting at 8AM at the gate (no preregistration) and competition starting at 10AM and ending at 4PM.

Over $8000 in cash and prizes to be given away to top 3 in each category**.

Categories

PRO *(V9-V12)- Mens and Womens category. HP is too easy for you, but maybe you can get in a few decent problems between yawns. … For sponsored athlete with at least one vendor sponsor. Cash prize for 1st place.

Open *(V8-V12)- Mens and Womens category. For the unknown strong man or local with HP on lockdown.

Advanced* (V6-V9)- Mens and Womens category. Just started to feel strong? Test your metal against the other 9-5ers to see whose weekends have paid off.

Intermediate* (V3-V6) Mens and Womens category. Always the place with the most competition. The level that is project mode for the majority of climbers. Prizes for top 5 in this one**.

Recreational* (V0-V2) Mens and Womens category. New to the sport or just like having a ton of fun, this is the level that results in the bloodiest tips with this group always giving it up.

Master of Stone (V0-V12) CO-ED category category. 100 problem minimum. Last year’s winner was around 110. I think 125 is appropriate…

Has Been (V0-V12)- CO-ED category. For those age 40 to 50 who still puts it down on the

Crust (V0-V12)- CO-ED category. For those age 50+ whose fingers still prefer the curl around the stone or a cool beverage rather than a cane.

*NOTE: MENS AND WOMENS will be CO-ED if there isn’t at least 5 in the category

Format:

Endurance format. No limit on amount of problems as long as they fall in your grade range (example open can only count problems V8-V12).

Food:

Bring $10 for chili and high gravity beverage. All profit to SCC and Alabama Bouldering Fund.
